Grutas Tolantongo splits neatly in two — waterfalls and caves first, then hours in the warm pools. There were three minibuses and ours ran ten minutes ahead of the rest all day. Reef shoes cost us 100 pesos at the first stop and a waterproof phone pouch 120.

The scenery at Grutas Tolantongo is beautiful, but there is nowhere to sit unless you are in a restaurant, and the little shuttle buses are crowded and charge a small fee each way. Worth knowing before you go.
