Fourteen hours, and four of them in the water
This is the shape of the day and it is worth knowing before you book. You leave Mexico City before dawn, spend roughly two and a half hours on the road, break at a café, then run another hour and a half into the canyon. The operator gives about four hours on site. Then four and a quarter hours home.
Four hours is enough for the cliff pools and one of the caves at a comfortable pace, or for all of the main canyon at a brisk one. It is not enough for Las Pocitas across the valley as well. Go in knowing which of those you want and the day works; go in expecting to see everything and it will feel short.
What the separate entrance is for
The trip goes in through a fast-track entrance rather than the main gate. On a Saturday in Semana Santa that is the difference between starting your four hours at eleven and starting them at midday. Entry itself is already paid inside the fare, so there is nothing to queue for at the window either.
Who this suits, and who should book something else
This suits you if you are visiting Mexico City for the first time, want the canyon without organising anything, and would rather put the money into the day than the vehicle. It is the joint-lowest fare of any departure and the most-booked trip of the nine, and the reviews are consistent about the guides.
Choose something else if nine of the fourteen hours in a shared minibus sounds like the wrong way to spend a day, or if you cannot produce a passport copy at the checkpoint. The car-of-four departure collects you from your accommodation, caps the group at four and gives you an hour more in the canyon.

How much of the fourteen hours is actually at the canyon?
About four, by the operator’s own reckoning. The rest is the road: roughly four hours in each direction plus a break at a café on the way. If four hours in the water is not enough for you, the car-of-four departure gives you about five and collects you from your own door.
What does the fast-track entrance actually save?
It puts you through a separate entrance rather than the main queue, which matters most on Saturdays and during holiday weeks. On a quiet Tuesday you would barely notice it. It does not change what you pay at the gate, because entry is already inside the fare.
Do I really need to carry a passport?
On this departure, yes. Every traveller must present a passport — original, digital or a photocopy — proving legal stay in Mexico. Photograph the page before you leave and keep it somewhere you can reach without a signal.
Is lunch included?
